Beryl appears wary and distrusting of most people initially, often calling others' actions and ideas into question and challenging them. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and not afraid to resort to combat if the need arises to check if someone is being true about their actions and intentions. Beryl's suspicion and constant questioning of others extends even to the royal family of Brodia, and thus she's considered a valuable asset to the royal guard for this aspect alone- not to mention her animal taming abilities. The only person she doesn't often question is Carnelia, her long-time friend and partner, as she knows Carnelia's actions and words are true.
Beryl is a person who holds suspicion of others as her top priority, especially if neglecting checking someone's intentions could lead to harm to those around her. One person she finds extremely suspicious is Mal, viewing her as "a traitor amidst our ranks" and vowing never to let her get close to those she holds dear. However, in failing this and indirectly leading to Carnelia's demise, she vows to hold a grudge against Mal and seek vengeace against her- no matter what, though still upholds keeping everyone else safe as her top priority.
